It has grown to more than 250 tenants since its inception in 1972 (when it started with only 50 lessees), and uses its designation as the state’s largest enclosed shopping mall to serve as a hub for budding entrepreneurs and small-business owners looking to reach a wider audience.
“The tenant mix at Pearlridge is important,” says marketing director Diana Su. “We want to make sure we feature a lot of local busi- nesses, as well as large national stores.”
It’s why the mall started the Open for Small Business initiative, which encourages new eateries, service providers and stores to try their hand at operating a physical space.
