In its nearly half-century existence, Pearlridge Center has much to look back on and be proud of. The architectural marvel made national news for its center court restaurant, and some might remember the South African penguins who once called the mall home.
“There’s not too much of an investment they have to make,” explains Su. “They can test the waters. We want to set them up for success.”
Part of that service includes its ever-popular Saturday Pearlridge Open-Air Farm- ers’ Market (upcoming dates are 8 a.m.-noon March 20 and 27), as well as family-fun activities, like holiday photos. Coming up are safe Easter bunny picture opportunities at Wai Makai Center Court during the following times:
• March 22-April 3, 2-7 p.m. Mondays-Fridays; 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturdays; 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Sundays
“Santa Claus used to para- chute into the center from a plane during Christmas,” Su recalls. “You can see our old advertisements as art displays at the Monorail station.”
