hen reflecting on various suc- cesses throughout his life, An- thony Cambra III, a Pālolo Val-
ley native, is quick to credit advice from his grandfather, Antonio Gonzales, as a driving force behind his achievement.
“The advice my grandpa gave me as a child affected me, to the point I followed it, and that’s why I succeeded in my life,” Cambra says of Gonzales. “My grandpa’s advice was ‘You need to change your mind- set, you don’t get in life what you want — you get in life what you are;’ ‘Practice OQP (only quality people) to be around;’ and ‘Develop your communication skills, because when you open your mouth, you tell the world who you are.’”
Cambra is writing a book about Gonza- les, his mother’s dad, and says that it is the first of a planned 10 books about his fam- ily. According to Cambra, his grandfather was the first member of his ‘ohana to serve in World War II and was in the service during Japan’s bombing of Pearl Harbor
