Registration is open for the upcoming Kailua Surfriders 5K/10K/1-mile run/ walk. It will be held on Nov. 6 at Kailua High School and will raise funds for the school’s programs. PHOTO COURTESY ED KEMPER

he public can now register for the upcoming Kailua Surfriders 5K/10K/ 1-mile run/walk, which will help raise
funds for Kailua High School’s programs. The event will be held at 7 a.m. Nov. 6 at Kai- lua High (451 Ulumanu Drive), and the cost is $35. Register online at active.com (and search “Kailua Surfriders 5K and 10K”).
Packet pickup is noon-3 p.m. Nov. 5 and 6-6:50 a.m. Nov. 6 at Kailua High’s gym.
Scoring for the event is by chip timing, and chips will be picked up on race day.
There will be 5K and 10K trophies for the first-place male and female overall finishers. It will also have medals for the first-, second- and third-place male and female finishers in all age categories. The event will also have random drawings for prizes after the race.
Friends of Kailua High School — a non- profit composed of students, faculty, parents, alumni and other supporters — is organizing the race.
