ongtime Kailua resident Matt Com- stock successfully responded to the “pressure” of dealing with the effects
of the COVID-19 pandemic by establishing his emerging business, Pacific Spray Wash.
The 32-year-old began the company just under a year ago, in April 2020.
“I started Pacific Spray Wash almost by accident. I was a financial analyst for a small company at the airport and was actually plan- ning on moving to Portland, Oregon, when COVID hit. Like a lot of people, everything just sort of stopped for me,” he explains.
He went on unemployment and tried to plan out his next move. While in high school and college, he had done some pressure washing on evenings and weekends.
“Back then, I had a basic electric pres- sure washer and was cleaning driveways for neighbors and friends. After COVID hit, I didn’t want to stay on unemployment forever so I used my $1,200 stimulus check and some savings to upgrade my equipment and start pressure washing again,” Comstock says.
