apolei resident Brad Kalilimoku wears many hats to support Ha- waiʻi’s culture and people.
He recently donned his cowboy hat for the Prince Kūhiō Parade, as he rode through the streets of Kapolei on horse- back during the event in remembrance of the late prince.
“I wanted to participate in the parade to honor and show appreciation to the works Prince Kūhiō (did) for our people through the Hawaiian Homes Commission Act to establish a homestead program for Native Hawaiians,” states Kalilimoku.
Perpetuating Hawaiian culture is Kalil- imoku’s passion. In fact, during his hel- met-wearing days as a football player for University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa, he helped create a haʻa, or Hawaiian chant/dance, for his team in 2007.
One way he is currently keeping the Native Hawaiian language alive is by us- ing it regularly. Kalilimoku says he often speaks Hawaiian as a paniolo, which is
