“I’m drawn to the life- style because I love being close to country, where many things are untouched, unlike the city,” he ex- plains. “I am able to do what I love to do and speak Hawaiian. There’s only a very few people like our- selves left. Because we do it every day, we are blessed with the opportunity to be well-rooted and apprecia- tive for what we have. It’s humbling.”

Kalilimoku may be hum- ble, but he has a lot to be proud of. Along with being an advocate for Hawaiian culture, he is also an actor. He has appeared in works such as Hawaiʻi Five-0, Finding ‘Ohana, and Sonic the Hedgehog 2.
“As for film, I would be honored to do a panio- lo film in ‘olelo Hawaiʻi with English subtitles in a time of our kūpuna with a lot of culture incorporated to showcase why paniolo did what they did, how im- portant they/we were to the growth of Hawaiʻi, how did they fashion tools and ne- cessities to help their daily lives, what their roles were, etc.,” he says.

While he is proving to have the chops to tack- le any role, Kalilimoku’s dream is to one day star in a film about something he’s quite familiar with, panio- los.
When Kalilimoku is not in the limelight or sun- shine, he is running his businesses, Kanaka Insur- ance Agency and Hawaiʻi
“Many people don’t un- derstand the importance of insurance, the coverag- es they have, and how it impacts our lives and our keiki,” he shares. “But, the main reason I am building this agency is to give back. We are called Kanaka In- surance, ‘for the people.’ I’ d like to build a busi-
There is a lot Kalilimoku does, and somehow he does not lose sight of what is im- portant. Staying the course, the multi-talented and pas- sionate paniolo is certainly blazing a trail for others and future generations to follow.
