t’s an exciting year for Assets School’s Team Waffles, which includes sopho- mores Emily Kurashima — the team
captain — and Kelli Ann Cabanada from West O‘ahu. After winning the state robotics championships in January, the group is gear- ing up to be one of two teams representing Hawai‘i in a world championship tourna- ment in April.
“Being a teacher for a small school where the majority of our students learn different- ly, I’m extremely proud of our students for showing the world and themselves that they are capable,” says coach Peter Han.
“Our main objective in going to the world championship is to learn and bring back as much knowledge as (we) can, and we look forward to interacting with amazing teams from across the world.”
Besides Kurashima and Cabanada, other team members are Mason Pimentel, Mitchell Kee Chong, Fay Weldon, Brenden Locquiao, Logan Wee, Blake Vasconcellos, Sydnee Rol, Leilei Petrossian and Zak Campos. The
