hen Nick Kuchar’s wife was in search of some decorative art for the couple’s apartment 12 years
ago, the artist went to work replicating the “vintage-style” travel art she had envisioned.
Kuchar used his visual interpretations to create a scenic journey that “explored” some of the couple’s favorite spots in Hawai‘i. Once his work was completed, several local boutiques and galleries took note of Kuchar’s art and it became available in shops through- out the islands and beyond.
“It’s been such a blessing to be able to do what I love and I am beyond stoked when someone enjoys my work as much as I en- joyed creating it,” says Kuchar, who lives in ‘Ewa.
“I’m an O‘ahu-based artist and I create vin- tage inspired surf and travel art featuring our favorite locations of this ‘āina we call home,” Kuchar says when describing his approach to his craft. “My creative process takes me throughout the islands where I look for inspi- ration paddling out at surf breaks and going
