6 MIDWEEK JUNE 1, 2022
    Sky-high After Father’s Generous Gift
  Dear Darah,
“I’m a flight atten- dant and was working an early morning flight from L A to Honolulu. My crew andIneededacupofjoe!I waited in line and realized I had forgotten my wallet but had my phone so I asked the cashier if they accepted Apple Pay, which they did. In front of me was a cool local guy, whose name I later learned was Steve, who was with his daughter and they were going to be on our flight. We chatted and when it was my turn, I ordered three lattes and a cof- fee. My Apple Pay wouldn’t go through, and the Wi-Fi for the system was down so
it couldn’t process payment. I started scrambling and was slightly panicked because my bill needed to be paid. With- out hesitation, Steve paid for our coffees. “No worries,” he said. “We need you folks more than anything. We want happy flight attendants. I’m happy I was here.” We laughed and I thanked him again as I ran to the plane. This made my day. It was aloha in its purest form, and I loved that this was also demonstrated in front of his young daughter — a true influ- ence to show that good deeds come from the right places and not for a return. You do good because it feels good. I just really needed to tell this
story publicly because it real- ly is the little things that can make someone’s day. Steve, I hope you read this and smile — you made a difference in our day more than you know!”
Tara Carver Waikīkī
Dear Tara,
We all know too well how difficult it is to func- tion without coffee! Thank goodness for your caffeine provider Steve and his kind- ness and generosity. Mahalo nui, Steve, for being a posi- tive example and living life with aloha.
“On Monday, April 18, around 1 p.m., my wife and
I were stuck in the parking area in front of the Kāhala L&L. She had parked our car too close to the sidewalk and was unable to reverse our car out of the parking stall af- ter numerous attempts. Two employees from L&L tried to give her assistance to no avail. Fortunately, a person who said he was an auto me- chanic spent some time giving her instructions on how to ex- tricate the car and after about
20 minutes of going back and forth, she finally freed the car. I thanked the man but failed to get his name. My wife and I are thankful that he took the time to help us.”

to come to their rescue. So grateful to that auto me- chanic and all mechanics who keep our cars in good shape and get us safely to our destinations.
