Those with treasured memories of riding the train and carnival attractions at Honolulu City Lights have Delbert and Claire Kim to thank for that. They’re the hardworking couple be- hind Xtreme Fun Rentals Inc., a successful company they spearheaded for more than 20 years.
Finding The Positives Of Starting Anew
“Some of the events had over 40,000 people,” Delbert recalls. “We did the rides, bounce houses, slides, trac- tors, trains and more.”
After coming to terms with that crushing reality with a bout of “shock and depres- sion” to follow, the Kims, who have been co-owners of their own businesses for more than half of their mar- riage, knew they didn’t want to work for anyone else. Thus, 808 Logos was born.
“This is our 26th year working together full time. We don’t fight — too much,” Delbert says, chuckling. “We get along really well and are able to work 24/7 with each other.

“We know that relation- ships are important ... so we know that if we establish a good relationship, people will trust us and be able to come to us when they need us,” chimes in Claire. “Ethni- cally, we want to do right by them. We’re honest people.”
Dependent on happenings and gatherings, the business evidently took a blow in March 2020, which forced the Wahiawā couple to start fresh.

“In the month of March, we lost all of our events for the year,” says Delbert. “No- body knew how long the pandemic was going to last. By the end of the year ... we finally knew that it wasn’t go- ing to end, and we couldn’t keep paying the (warehouse) rent, so we liquidated and sold everything at auction.”
“(808 Logos) is anything you can put your name on,” explains Delbert. “We do banners, flags, tents, pens, T-shirts or any kind of appar- el, all the trinket giveaways that you get at trade shows, gifts that business owners would give their employees during Christmas time, we go to the UH sports games — it just goes on and on.”
“You can go on the internet and buy from the mainland, but when you use us, you’re supporting a local business here,” says Delbert.
