College’s Leeward Theatre is welcoming au- diences back with impressive improvements, an enthusiastic and experienced new theater manager, and a slate of stellar soon-to-be-an- nounced performances.
As the only major arts presenter and arts education center serving Leeward and Central Oʻahu, community members can be excit- ed to enter the newly renovated theater. Past the iconic 104-foot-long, nearly 50-year-old lobby fresco painting depicting distinguished artist Jean Charlot’s love for Hawaiians, 628 new comfortable seats in the auditorium await guests.
A major component of the renovation was to be compliant with The Americans with Dis- abilities Act. Now, patrons in a wheelchair can access all areas of the auditorium, and the ad- dition of companion seating increases comfort. For those who want to perform or work back- stage, a lift was added, and a massive lighting
