“I am looking forward to bringing enthusiasm and mag- ic to a program that has been dormant for five of the last six years,” she says. “Hawai‘i has a vibrant and beautiful art scene, and as we schedule pre- sentations, we are being very thoughtful to purposefully re- flect the community.”
“Having access for people who are disabled is huge, and having new equipment enables us to be able to do just about anything while also teaching students about the latest technology in the- ater,” explains theater man- ager Elisa Olson, who joined in August.
Community members can look forward to the release of the Leeward Presents’ schedule in the upcoming months, which will feature performances from “big lo- cal names” starting in August 2023, Olson elaborates.

Olson started managing theaters at a young age, re- ceiving her formative years of experience while working at the community college theater attached to her high school in California. From there, her career catapulted to working with theater, choral and professional ballet com- panies across the country, in- cluding as a stage manager at the Kennedy Center in Wash- ington, D.C.
For now, the theater is booked with rentals, includ- ing the Hawaiʻi Symphony Orchestra and social media influencer Piper Rockelle in February, along with dance competitions, recitals and graduations.
