volunteers at the entrance to the Blaisdell Exhibition Hall.
Walking down a red carpet, attendees will be treated to a traditional Thanksgiving meal of turkey, stuffing, gravy, rice, salad, pineap- ple and a slice of pumpkin pie — all for free — courtesy of The Salvation Army.
“One of our themes this year is Love Be- yond Hunger,” explains Maj. Phil Lum, di- visional commander of The Salvation Army – Hawaiian and Pacific Islands. “The free Thanksgiving meal is open to everyone and no tickets are required. It is really a joyous day to gather and give thanks with those in our communities.”
Following a two-year hiatus due to the pan- demic, this year’s Thanksgiving meal will be one of the largest in The Salvation Army’s 50 years of hosting. First held in 1971 at a Salva- tion Army facility, the free Thanksgiving meal served 500 plates. In 1972, the event moved
