fter a two-year hiatus due to the pan- demic, the festive Kāne‘ohe Christ- mas Parade is back this year and will
begin at 9 a.m. Dec. 3.
“This will be our 58th parade. Our theme
this year is ʻImagine the Future.’ Our two grand marshals are Mahealani Cypher, who won the 2022 Community Heroes Award, and the 2022 Merrie Monarch Miss Aloha Hula Pi‘ikea Lopes. Miss Lopes has been named as the new face of Nike’s indigenous N7 collection,” shares parade board chair Janice Lai.
The 2020 City & County of Honolulu Lei King Keonaona Salis, who lives in Waimānalo, will also be a part of the parade. The annual Lei Day Court had been in existence for more than 90 years before Salis was crowned its first king.
In addition, 2022 Lei Queen Natalie Brown Ah Quin will also participate in the parade.
Other marchers in the event will include the U.S. Marine Corps Band of the Pacific, the Royal Hawaiian Band, several high school bands and the combined Kalāheo/Campbell High School Naval ROTC and color guard.
