ince they were in kindergarten, Brooke Van Woerkom, Jamie Tabata and Leila Dunn have developed a bond by grow-
ing up through the Girl Scouts program. Now as eighth graders on the Windward side, the trio are using their knowledge and skills gained through participating with Girl Scout Troop 784 to give back to the com- munity by building a set of benches for the He‘eia Elementary School campus that will be donated officially at 3:45 p.m. on Thurs-
day, March 24.
“Many wonderful girls have come and
gone through the troop, it has been a great source wonderful friendships and fun,” says Pamela Dunn, Leila’s mother. “All of the girls we have met have been active with sports, school, dance and more. With Girl Scouts, you make closer connections as it is more than a season.”
According to the participants and their parents, the Hawai‘i Girl Scout Council of- fers many interesting and educational ac- tivities for the girls that are specific to their
