he ongoing COVID-19 pandemic didn’t stop Kapunahala Elementary from finding a way to raise the funds
its annual fall Fun Fair normally brings in to help supplement the school’s budget. In fact, the Dolphins exceeded an initial goal of $10,000 for a final grand total of $60,001.
“We were in complete shock with the outcome,” says Robyn McIntosh, Kapuna- hala Elementary School vice principal/ac- ademic coach.
“Within the first week, we surpassed our goal.”
In lieu of the fair, Kapunahala Elementary hosted a donation drive via the Get Movin’ Fundraising online platform that began Sept. 20 and culminated in an Oct. 8 Cardiodruma- thon. The activity first took root at the school last year after fourth grade teachers began integrating cardio desk drumming to music with pool noodles into their physical educa- tion program.
