As of this writing, we have yet to see our first high surf warning event, but we almost did on Nov. 16-17. The computers originally projected 10-15-foot surf to crack the outer reefs and get Waimea Bay rideable.
The official holding pe- riod for the 2022-23 World Surf League Big Wave Sea- son opened Nov. 15 and runs through March 31. Now we pray for that warning thresh- old — actually, these crazy competitors are praying for twice that big.
