Kapolei High School Students Honor ‘Ilima At Leihano Vets
Students from Kapolei High School’s Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officers’Training Corps honored veterans who served in World War II and the Korean and Vietnam wars (and spouses of those who served) during a visit to ‘Ilima at Leihano senior living community on Veterans Day. The outdoor ceremony included a Color Guard presentation
and performances of the national anthem and Hawai‘i Pono‘ī with special ‘ukulele accompaniment provided by kūpuna residents. Appreciation gifts were also given to the veterans with the help of the students, followed by time for refreshments and socializing between the generations on the community’s lānai.
