Following a hiatus due to the pandemic, Walk with a Doc O‘ahu is back in full swing at Patsy T. Mink Central O‘ahu Re- gional Park, located at 94- 801 Kamehameha Hwy. in Waipi‘o, from 8 to 9 a.m. Saturdays.
According to the Amer- ican Heart Association, walking has the lowest dropout rate of any phys- ical activity. It’s also low impact, which means it’s easier on the joints than running and is a safe form of working out, with a doc- tor’s OK, for people with certain medical conditions.
Attendees can walk at their own pace, and should meet at the tennis courts, where there will be a ban- ner.
On June 12, Kapolei Walmart Vision Center associates were surprised with the honor of being named Vision Center of the Year by the corporation. It was selected from a pool of more than 3,000 vision centers across the United States. According to Walmart officials, the team loves to have fun while championing both customers and associates. In the past, members held “disco nights,” during which they were open late for customers who can’t make regular hours, and a Harry Potter-themed initiative to increase associate engagement. Kapolei Lions Club members also joined in the celebration. PHOTO COURTESY SAYRE PR
