ince the start of the pandemic, many people have switched jobs or started their own businesses — and Henry
Fang is one of them. Previously, the ‘Ewa Beach resident worked in the events sector of Four Seasons O‘ahu At Ko ‘Olina. To- day, he owns and operates Paradise Mon- archs and has coined himself a new title: “Butterfly dad.”
“Because of COVID, I was furloughed,” shares Fang. “One day, I was laying in bed surfing the internet and I saw an article that said that monarch butterflies are on the verge of becoming an endangered species. To be fully honest and transparent, I didn’t take any special interest in butterflies pri- or; I know that they’re beautiful, but I wasn’t super into butterflies. But because of the article, I started thinking deeper and did tons and tons of research ... and even- tually I started raising them for fun.
