It’s likely you know (or are) someone who has or will experience breast can- cer. Anyone who has been touched by the disease can tell you, one moment can change everything. Whether it’s hearing the words, “You have breast cancer,” or the moment you hear, “We no longer see any evidence of cancer,” life changes forever.
While breast cancer cases in Hawai‘i remain high, mor- tality rates are declining. We have the third-lowest death rate in the nation due to early detection, excellent treatment and continuing research. All these activities cost money and the demand for financial help is growing.
