“Footwear is in high de- mand. Just a pair of slippers can go a long way,” she ex- plains.
As donations are collect- ed, they will periodically be added to the school bus so that everyone can see the progress throughout the month.
“A lot of the families with children will get sup- ply lists; if the parents have a list of what schools are expecting, and they want to donate, that’s more than welcome,” Su explains, noting that sometimes class-

Shoppers may notice the big yellow school bus — do- nated by Ground Transport Inc. — parked in front of Pearlridge Center’s Mau- ka food court entrance. It’s this bus that Su hopes will be brimming with school supplies.
According to Su, during the last Stuff the Bus event, Pearlridge Center was able to donate just under 5,000 pieces of school supplies
“In my mind, I grew up at Pearlridge. I had my first date at Pearlridge. Pearlridge Center has been around since 1972, so for de- cades it’s a place where ev- eryone goes to hang out. For me, that’s one of my favorite things about Pearlridge that really affected my life, and in turn, I get to bring these community-focused events here,” she says.
The community is en- couraged to bring in school supply donations to one of four drop-off locations at the mall: Mauka Center Court, T&C (Mauka, second level), Wai Makai Center Court and Hawaiian Island Creations/ HIC (Wai Makai, second level).
“I’m really blessed to have an employer that would allow me to do that and give back. It’s more than ever community-mind- ed. I think that’s the primary reason why we’ re doing this. (We’re always considering) ‘How can we give it all back to the community?’”
The Stuff the Bus cam- paign, which began July 30, is accepting donations during mall hours (10 a.m.- 8 p.m. Mondays-Saturdays and 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Sundays)
Pearlridge Center has partnered with Ground Transport Inc. for its Stuff the Bus campaign. The public is encouraged to donate enough school supplies to fill this full-sized school bus parked at its Mauka food court entrance. Stuff the Bus runs through Aug. 31. PHOTO COURTESY PEARLRIDGE CENTER
