Gallery ‘Iolani at Wind- ward Community College presents ‘Ai Pōhaku, Stone Eaters.
Tengan and Noelle Kahanu — ʻAi Pōhaku, Stone Eat- ers affirms long-standing acts of creative resistance and persistence.
The art exhibit, which runs through May 5, fea- tures works by intergen- erational poets, painters, carvers, weavers, filmmak- ers, photographers and mu- sicians that tell a story of Kanaka ‘Ōiwi through con- temporary art. It is a collab- orative exhibit of Hawaiian artists, curators and edu- cators. Participating art- ists include Meala Bishop, Solomon Robert Nui Enos, Roen Hufford, ʻĪmaikala- ni, Kalāhele, Lehuauakea, Nanea Lum, Tiare Ribeaux and Maikaʻi Tubbs.
This exhibit is support- ed by Puʻuhonua Society, Admiral Residency in Con- temporary Pacific Art, Ha- waiʻi State Foundation on Culture and the Arts, Native Arts and Cultures Founda- tion, Institute of Museum and Library Services, and Independent Curators Inter- national.
