t’s officially spooky season at Hono- lulu’s KOA Theater with the return of its annual walk-through haunted pro-
duction, Skeleton Key Hawai‘i.
“We have a mix of returning haunt actors
and new people who we find at open audi- tions,” says theater owner and Kāne‘ohe resident Kevin Keaveney. “What’s really nice is some of our haunt actors have been with us all five years. We have one father and son that came to auditions the first year and each year, a new family member of theirs has also joined the haunt team.”
Past themes include an excavated Egyp- tian tomb, an abandoned carnival, an is- land of genetic mutants and confronting phobias.
Originally KOA Theater and the haunt were in a smaller warehouse in Kailua for the first few years but more space was needed so it relocated to a larger ware- house in Honolulu.
