Windward Taco Bell Team Members Awarded Scholarships
Two Windward food busi- ness workers are represent- ing their towns in a big way.
Más Scholarship will allow him to attend school for au- dio engineering, giving him the tools necessary to work toward a career in the music industry.
The Live Más Scholarship was designed to support in- novative and creative stu- dents ages 16-26, who are passionate about creating a better future and making a positive impact on their community.
The Taco Bell Founda- tion recently awarded two Hawai‘i Taco Bell employ- ees with $10,000 Live Más Scholarships to pursue high- er education.
Meanwhile, Kama says she is passionate about act- ing, singing and dancing. She is involved with various performing arts groups and has participated in produc- tions throughout the years.
The scholarship helps re- cipients to pursue unique passions that may not nec- essarily fit into the tradi- tional academic or athletic scholarship categories.
Eric Naleieha, a team member at Taco Bell Kāne‘ohe, and Janelle Kama, a team member at Taco Bell Kailua, were se- lected from a pool of over 8,000 applicants.
Kama enjoys creating spe- cial moments for others, like the pockets of laughter and joy one experiences while watching a performance. She hopes to continue doing this in the future as an event planner.
In addition to financial support, the Taco Bell Foun- dation also gives recipients access to connections and opportunities to provide them with the most impact- ful experiences.
Naleieha’s goal is to be- come a professional audio engineer/producer/musician. He shares that it has been his dream to create and perform his own music since he was 6 years old.
Kama will use the funds from the Live Más Scholar- ship to study public relations at California Baptist Uni- versity, where she will gain skills for her future career while pursuing her passion in performing arts outside of class.
Taco Bell Foundation Inc. is a nonprofit public charity that helps young people pur- sue their educational goals and career aspirations.
Naleieha gives back to the community through piano and beatboxing lessons, pro- viding others with a creative outlet and new form of ex- pression.
