Help Provide Keiki Meals This Summer
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Summer Food Service Program is currently seeking organizations across the state — including here in Windward O‘ahu — to help provide nutritious meals for keiki who live in low-in- come communities during the months that school is not in session.

Schools, public agencies, churches and private non- profits can apply to be a sponsor, and those who par- ticipate will receive reim- bursements for serving the healthy meals and snacks. Sponsors are also encour- aged to provide educational or recreational activities.
In 2021, meals were served at 96 non-HIDOE locations throughout the state, including public char- ter schools, nonprofit orga- nizations, churches, parks, preschools and housing facilities. A required virtu- al workshop for sponsors, conducted by Hawai‘i Child Nutritional Programs, is slat- ed for this month.
A recent ceremony took place to commemorate a $1,000 donation from Alexander & Baldwin from its Kōkua for Keiki program at ‘Aikahi Park Shopping Center to the ‘Aikahi e School PTA.
