Unfortunately, Pali Lanes bowling cen- ter in Kailua has an- nounced that after 60 years of operation, it will be clos- ing permanently. The com- pany says on the Pali Lanes Facebook page that the last day of operation will be June 30. “We’d like to send a spe- cial mahalo to the Kailua community for allowing us to serve you. It has been an honor of our lifetime to serve you. Mahalo to all those who ever bowled at Pali Lanes.” Officials state that the coro- navirus has been such a difficult time that they had no other option but to close ... Kailua resident Bonnie Pang has been named presi- dent and CEO of the Hawaiʻi Employers Council. She will work closely with the orga- nization’s board of gover- nors to address the unique needs of Hawaiʻi’s employ- ers and direct the organiza- tion’s leadership and strate- gic planning. Her experience will be especially vital in helping the state’s employ- ers navigate a safe return to work, the revitalization of the local workforce, and growth and development ... Hawaiʻi State Federal Cred- it Union has announced that Michael Horton is a new financial adviser to Hawaiʻi State Investment Services. He will service the Kāneʻo- he and Salt Lake branches. Horton will provide advice on investment and insurance strategies for members inter- ested in retirement planning, wealth building, asset trans- fer to future generations and more. Horton, a senior finan- cial adviser, has nearly 20 years of financial planning experience. Prior to joining Hawaiʻi State FCU, Horton was part of the investments team at First Hawaiian Bank,
where he helped clients with financial planning needs for 18 years ... District 50 state Rep. Patrick Branco (Kai- lua/Kāneʻohe Bay) states that due to recent harsh weather, his beach cleanup project hs been rescheduled to 7:30-9 a.m. March 26 at Kalama Beach Park. Partici- pants need to sign up and fill out a safety waiver. Branco also welcomes District 50 small-business owners to fill out a survey to provide feed- back on how the coronavirus has affected their companies. For information, call 586- 6480 or email repbranco@ capitol.hawaii.gov. Branco has also outlined resourc-
es for those who have been impacted by the heavy rain and flash floods that have occurred over the past few weeks, resulting in property damage and unsafe situa- tions. He notes that U-Haul is offering flood victims 30 days of free storage. Call U-Haul Moving and Storage of Honolulu at 836-0977. Hawaiʻi Foodbank also has local food distribution loca- tions. In addition, the city has a web tool to report damage. While this is not a tool to apply for relief, noti- fying the city of residential or business damage helps it seek federal assistance. Branco states that the city is
lifting its two-loads-per-day limits for the rest of March at its three transfer stations to allow residents affected by the recent flooding to dump their waste items. This expanded, free-of-charge service is limited to residen- tial waste only. The three lo- cations are Kawailoa Trans- fer Station, Kapaʻa Transfer Station and Keʻehi Transfer Station. For hours of opera- tion, go to opala.org. Learn more about these changes by calling 768-3200 or emailing at disposal@honolulu.gov ... Congrats to Windward student achievers.
