Kāneʻohe Lions Club recently held its annual Sight Is Beautiful poster contest with entrants’ works on display at Wind- ward Mall for two weeks. Six elementary schools are participating with nearly 400 posters submitted from grades kindergarten through six. Judging has been com- pleted with three winners in each grade level. First- place recipients will then be evaluated at the zone level with entries from four oth- er Windward Lions clubs. Kamehameha Hwy. has an- nounced that after serving the community for almost 70 years, it will permanent- ly shut down March 28 “due to the current situation and financial climate.” The own- ers state they couldn’t have served the community with- out “our valuable employees and our loyal and awesome customers.” ... Emmanuel Church in Kailua hosted a drive-thru collec- tion of donations on March 6 for I Support the Girls.
