t. Ann School in Kāneʻohe will close in June after 180 years of existence. The Rev. Richard McNally announced
in a letter posted on saintannhawaii.org that the decision was made with great sadness to cease the long-standing Catholic educational institution at the end of this school year on June 4, due to consistently declining enroll- ment over the last 11 years.
He states that “the financial reality made us conclude that our school would not be able to thrive in service to our students and families.”
McNally adds, “Despite the grand efforts and goodwill of administration, staff and fac- ulty, the school board, supportive parishio- ners, and the many volunteers that worked in marketing and fundraising for the school, the money raised was just not enough to allow St. Ann School to keep operating.
“Over the next months we will be helping our students transition to other schools. We hope many will continue in Catholic educa- tion. We will have events, both in person and online, to facilitate that,” McNally states.
