Celebrate Filipino Culture At Fiesta

he 31st annual Filipino Fiesta and 11th annual Flores De Mayo is one of O‘ahu’s most celebrated cultur-
al events and it’s right around the corner. This year’s festival is slated to take place on May 6 at the Filipino Community Center in Waipahu. The first fiesta took place in 1993 at Kapi‘olani Park and then at Kaka‘ako Waterfront Park. It continued to expand and grow throughout the years, except for a two- year hiatus during the pandemic. Last year was its first return since 2020 with about 8,000 attendees.
This time around, the celebration brings together 40 vendors and features multiple ac- tivities like an adobo cook-off contest, beer garden, silent auction and much more. All proceeds go toward the Filipino Community Center.
