West O‘ahu residents who recently renewed their driver’s licenses should check for a misprint. The Hawai‘i Department of Transportation announced a printing error affecting driver’s licenses and state identification cards issued in February. The word “Hawai‘i” in the upper left corner was misprinted with a sans serif font while the correct print uses a script font. The error was caused by a hardware change by the card vendor.
The Transportation Security Administration and law enforcement statewide have been no- tified and agreed to treat the misprinted creden- tials as a valid form of identification. Replace- ments, which are being issued this month, will be sent at no cost to those affected. The City & County of Honolulu will contact affected individ- uals and send replace- ment credentials in the mail.
