been told ‘never say never,’” Espero remains busy with a poetry book in the works, a play or musical in develop- ment, and a future sitcom or screenplay in mind.
While reflecting on a lengthy political career that included 19 years in elected office, Will Espero is proud of his impact in West O‘ahu.
“One goal of my writing is to try to get a television series for Hawai‘i and boost the film industry.”
The longtime ‘Ewa Beach resident looks back fondly on his accomplishments in office, while forging his new- found career as an author. After being appointed by the late Mayor Frank Fasi to lead O‘ahu’s Neighborhood Board system for eight years, he became a state representa- tive for three years and repre- sented ‘Ewa Beach as a state senator for 16 years through 2018.

“The arts and entertain- ment are of global interest,” Espero says. “Hawai‘i can become a creative destina- tion and generate unique content for the world. En- trepreneurs and technology have made it easier for Ha- wai‘i residents and humanity to stay connected and share their stories and ideas. I hope to become a part of this adventure.”
“During my 19 years in elected office, I helped in developing my district and region with new government infrastructure and build- ings,” Espero says. “Some of the construction projects I pushed and helped fund included Fort Weaver Road widening and beautification, Kualaka‘i Parkway, Kapo- lei Judicial Building, Uni- versity of Hawai‘i – West O‘ahu, ‘Ewa Makai Middle School, Keoneula Elemen- tary School, Saber Hall, the

“A gubernatorial cam- paign, a reckless affair, an ex- tortion scheme, a restaurant shooting, a Waikīkī fashion festival and an unexpected injury weave a tapestry of suspense, intrigue and mys- tery,” Espero explains. “A character dies and the book becomes a ‘whodunit’ as sev- eral suspects emerge. With the social issues mentioned, I want readers to reflect on what’s happening in our so- ciety.”
“One goal of my writing is to try to get a television series for Hawai‘i and boost the film industry,” Espero says. “I believe the characters and story lines based in Hawai‘i could become a tantalizing political drama similar to House of Cards or The West Wing.”

Espero is currently work- ing on the sequel, Missing in Paradise.
Espero’s love for writing goes back to his elementary school days when he devel- oped a passion for reading and writing, and culture and arts in general. While he is currently retired from pol- itics and has “no plans to run again, even though I’ve
