Aloha surfers and beachgoers, Welcome to May! Looking back, April did not disappoint in the surf depart- ment — in fact, we surfed the best waves in a decade all shores considered. Let’s hope May can match April, but to be frank, I doubt it will. Between all the insane April swells for both town and country and windward it’s a high bar. At least May is kicking off with a very promising south-southwest swell. See my website for details. It’s already feeling much closer to summer. Yeah!

surfing game. These fresh faces get to go up against these fallen heroes to see if they can make their dream of being at the top come true. Gnarly.
We also have the Hawai‘i Adaptive Surfing Champi- onships coming June 7-11 at Queen’s Surf right after the T&C Surf Groms go off. This one is very meaningful and inspirational. You want to feel good? Just bring fam- ily and friends and share in the aloha and support.
The World Championship Tour is in West Oz for the Margaret River Pro. As of this writing, they were await- ing a pretty big south swell. They will likely be done by the time you’re reading this, so check out snnhawaii.com.
The other positive about the cut is pressure. It’s ex- citing to see how everyone handles it. The bottom half have to go back and earn enough points on the Chal- lenger Series — premium qualifier contests — to earn their way back into the WCT for 2023. They meet the brand newcomers to the pro
Locally, the 24th annual T&C Surf Grom Contest presented by Duke’s Waikīkī is happening June 4-5 at Baby Queen’s surf break at Kūhiō Beach.
The Local Motion Surf Into Summer is also back at Ala Moana Bowls June 11-12. It has been historical- ly the largest amateur surf event on O‘ahu.

This special event had to take a break for two years but now the keiki are ready to roll. Our youth are bit- ing their leashes to have fun and learn as T&C celebrates blessings of family, friends and surfing.
Now, we pray for surf. GQ, droppin’ in 4 U!
