   Make, Listen To Tunes This Summer
 The start of summer brings a fun event, Make Music Day (June 21), to venues across the island, including here in West Oʻahu.

“Make Music Day is an international celebration that was founded in 1982 in France to demonstrate the power of music to uplift people, to spread joy and to build community,” states Na- lani Jenkins, founder of Make Music Hawai‘i and founding member of Na Leo Pilimeha- na.
“We have various artists that are participating. Some are well-known and some are backyard jammers who love music,” Dalire adds.
It didn’t take much for Jen- kins to convince her friend and colleague, kumu hula Kaui Dalire, to come on board with Make Music Hawai‘i.
Many performances are live and in-person, and some are streaming. Here on the West- side, catch Allan Poki from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at 60FORE (2249 Essex Road) in Kapolei, and Arato ‘Ohana from noon to 3 p.m. in a backyard at 6511A 103rd St.
