usical fans will be elated to hear that ‘Ukulele Festival Hawaiʻi is making a return this year in the on-
line sphere. The event will also operate under new organizers as co-founders Roy and Kathy Sakuma pass the torch to Craig Chee and Sar- ah Maisel.
“After celebrating our 50th golden anniver- sary last year, we both felt it was time for us to take a step back and hand over the reins to someone who can usher the festival into a new era and continue our mission of celebrating the ‘ukulele with the rest of the world,” states the Sakumas. “We are so grateful to have Craig and Sarah on board, as they bring lots of ener- gy and new ideas to ensure the festival contin- ues to live beyond 50 years.”
Slated for July 18, the events will broadcast on YouTube Live from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and features an array of talents. Though, mini vir- tual events will take place before the big day, including a local artist showcase in April and a workshop in May.
