Volunteering At The ‘House That Love Built’
  Dear Darah,
I’ve always be- lieved that the Ron- ald McDonald House is a gift from our island community, and that it reflects the very best of who we are and what we have to share. Nowhere is this more evident than with our family of volunteers, the silver lining to Hawai‘i’s Ronald McDonald House.
cook meals for the families. You answer phones, tutor the children and drive the family shuttle. You spend hours, days and weekends at the House, giving the most precious gift of all — the gift of time. You help take care of our House. But most important, you help take care of our families.
To the Ronald McDonald House ‘ohana,
That sharing began a long time ago, when a group of dedicated volunteers worked tirelessly and passionately to create Hawai‘i’s first Ronald McDonald House, a very spe- cial “home away from home” for seriously ill children and their families. This was the
That’s you. Because of you, we have been able to welcome more than 14,000 families since opening our first House 36 years ago. I am humbled by the generosity and graciousness of everyone I meet there, whether it be a staff mem- ber, volunteer or donor, and especially the families. We

“House that Love Built.” It opened in 1987 and began a tradition of love and caring that has endured for more than three decades and kept strong by generations of vol- unteer heroes.
I have always loved vol- unteering at the House and being a part of a mission to change lives for the better. Your organization has pos- itively impacted so many families and created a safe, happy environment for them while they are going through a very stressful time.
