People, Pets Find Their Place In The ‘Sun’
FEBRUARY 15, 2023 MIDWEEK 7
Dear Darah,
I would like to show my gratitude and ap- preciation for the most giving person I am blessed to know. We met two years ago and now she is like a sister to me. Her name is Sun Morikawa, and she is the owner of Sweet Mango Hawai‘i. When COVID hit, Sun closed her two retail store locations and focused on sell- ing her products online and at local vendor events on O‘ahu.
Whenever my dogs see me lay down a Sweet Mango towel, they will immediately sit or lie down on it to claim their spot. Needless to say, it’s a pretty funny and cute sight to see.
grateful for. And she definitely lives up to her name, bringing “Sun”-shine to everyone (and their pups) every day.

Dear Natalie,
Sun is such a compassion- ate dog lover, entrepreneur and philanthropist. She thoughtfully responds, “I have been running Sweet Mango Hawai‘i for a lit- tle over seven years, and during this time I have met so many amazing customers and we have become friends. I couldn’ t do this without the support from my fam- ily, friends and customers. I can’ t thank them enough and I can’t forget to thank
has many ups and downs, but it didn’ t stop me from continuing. When I started attending local craft fairs as a vendor, I met so many wonderful customers and fur babies. It made me so happy to have that face-to- face interaction. In May, due to my ongoing health con- cerns, I need to step away and focus on my health. Thank you, everyone, for your support in the last sev- en years.”
If you’ve had the privilege to meet Sun, you will agree she is a true giver. She always goes above and beyond for others and has a heart of gold.
As a very lovable and devot- ed dog mom, Sun began creat- ing pet bandanas and matching face masks for pet parents like me. While attending a local vendor event, I met Sun and im- mediately became a customer.
If you’ve had the privilege to meet Sun, you will agree she is a true giver. She always goes above and beyond for others and has a heart of gold. I have witnessed Sun participate in several fundraisers for local organizations here on O‘ahu, and she has donated thousands to pet rescues and always finds a way to give more. She is even one of the major sponsors for the Miss Hawai‘i USA pageant.
