At Kāhala Nui, part of our mission as a not-for-profit corporation is to meet the unmet needs of seniors in the community. One way we do this is by supporting other nonprofit organizations to reach more seniors. For the last 12 years, we have col- laborated with Aloha Unit- ed Way to provide financial support to six partner orga- nizations: Alzheimer’s As- sociation, Aloha Chapter; Catholic Charities Hawai‘i; Hawai‘i Meals on Wheels; Kōkua Kalihi Valley; Pālama Settlement; and Project Dana. To date, Kāhala Nui has donated more than $2 million
in support of these organiza- tions through our Social Ac- countability Program, which includes contributions from our residents and associates, along with corporate gifts. What these organizations have been able to do with these funds is incredible. For example, with last year’s donation, Hawai‘i Meals on Wheels was able to serve an additional nine low-income senior communities, deliv- ering more than 174,718 hot and frozen meals to home- bound seniors. Kōkua Kalihi Valley launched a new virtual exercise program with home care, medical, dental and caregiver training services.
We also assist homebound seniors through an annual do- nation of holiday bags filled with food, toiletries and oth- er essential items to Pālama Settlement, and by prepar- ing meals to deliver to frail homebound seniors in the Kāhala, Kaimukī and Pālolo neighborhoods through Ha- wai‘i Meals on Wheels.

Since 2010, Hawai‘i has experienced a 37.6% increase in our 65-and-older popula- tion. It is estimated that about 27% of our population will be over age 60 by the year 2030. That’s more than a quarter of Hawai‘i residents. We need to have the services and programs in place now to
