For the sample I made, I brushed on rubber cement at the tips of the flower petals so that I could paint the blue sky
background. When I did get paint onto the rubber cement, the paint resists and beads up, protecting the area beneath from getting painted blue. I
even used a small bit to cover the lady bug design before I painted the petals yellow.
