Honesty, Aloha Spirit Are Alive And Well
Dear Darah,
Mahalo nui loa to cashier Noenoe at the Kāne‘ohe Safeway store. Al- ways showing the aloha spirit!
Andrew Okubo Kāne‘ohe
Dear Andrew,
Noenoe Kekuaokala- ni-Mendes says, “I enjoy my job. I’ve been working there for seven years, and I feel like I’ m a people per- son. I’m at the point in my life where I’m in a grate- ful mood. I have a second chance in life, and I just try to make the best of it. I enjoy working with people. I’m grateful for anything
and everything, especially at work. I’m sure to be con- sidered to have aloha spirit; that person has it, too. You never know what people are going through. I try to be a light and I like to treat peo- ple how I want to be treat- ed.” We are so appreciative of our essential workers and for people like Noenoe who exude aloha and take pride in their work.
Mahalo nui loa to the gentleman who found and turned in my Citi charge card that apparently fell out of my pocket at Pearl City Home Depot. I couldn’t find
my charge card when I went to the checkout. Although I had canceled my charge card when I went home, it’s a relief to know it was found, and by such an honest person. Thank you! Unfortunately, he did not leave his name. Also, thank you to Home Depot for giving me a call that my lost charge card was turned in. From a grateful senior.
Sally Kam Pearl City
Dear Sally,
I love that this column highlights all the good hap- pening in our community, even if those who perform acts of kindness do it with- out recognition or accolade. It’s a great feeling knowing that we are walking among people who still do what is right. It’s often a true test of character to see what a person does when they are not being watched.
Is there someone you’d like to thank? Mail letters to MidWeek c/o Mahalo Nui at 500 Ala Moana Blvd. Ste. 7-500, Honolulu HI 96813, or email mahalonuiwithdar- ah@gmail.com. Include your name, where on the island you reside, phone number and, if possible, the phone num- ber of the person you’re thanking so she can contact him or her. Darah Dung hosts “The Pet Hui” and “Island Driver,” both on Spectrum OC16.
It’s a great feeling knowing that we are walking among people who still do what is right.
