Janelle comes from a first-generation immi- grant family, and recent- ly graduated from Wai‘anae High School. She blossomed in our high school programs from being shy and unsure about her language capabili- ties into a confident go-getter. By senior year, Janelle joined our advanced fellowship, helped organize a workforce development webinar and spearheaded a project sup- porting her school’s English language learning (ELL) pop- ulation.

Our heart is especial- ly for nontraditional leaders like Janelle who wouldn’t otherwise have access to leadership development op- portunities.
CTL students practice leadership by designing and implementing legacy projects to directly impact schools and communities. More than 100 projects this year will tackle bullying, mental health, sus- tainability, caring for special needs peers, empowering women in health care and more.
