lexis Akiona, owner and designer of Lexbreezy Ha- wai‘i, describes her brand as “young and flirty.”
“I believe since we live in Hawai‘i, everyone should be wearing aloha wear every day,” says the Hilo na- tive. “So, I like to bring new and fun styles for younger gen- erations.”
In 2015, Akiona launched her brand at the Merrie Monarch Festival and, just last summer, opened her first brick-and- mortar shop at 16 Kainehe St. in Kailua.
“It’s nice to have a store- front, so people can come visit us, try on our clothes, feel our fabrics and get to know us,” she says.
The biz sells men’s, women’s and keiki clothing, matching ‘oha- na wear, handbags, hale décor and more. Akiona warns that once a print sells out, it won’t be coming back, so if you see something you like, be sure to jump on it — and quickly.
