Hawai‘i-born actor and martial artist Mark Dacascos landed one of his early action roles when he was cast as Mani, the Iroquois companion of Grégoire de Fronsac (Samuel Le Bihan), in the French horror film Brother- hood of the Wolf. For the role, Dacascos not only learned how to ride a horse, but also studied Mohawk culture and became fluent in French. Released in the U.S. 20 years ago this week, the movie is loosely based on attacks by a wolf-like creature in 18th-century France. What is the historical name of this man-eating animal?
