Hi Darah,
I recently completed my COVID vaccina- tion sequence, but I had plen- ty of opportunities to get it as early as February or March. At one point, I signed up to get it because I came into close contact with someone who tested positive, but ended up canceling at the last minute. I was hesitant. Part of it was reading a lot of things about it and hearing other relatives or friends refusing to get it for different reasons. However, due to the recent rise and the delta variant, and the fact that I would potentially be putting myself and others at risk every time I go to work, I decided that it was the lesser of two evils. A part of me always wanted to get it, but there was that other voice inside of me that gave me a hard time com- mitting to it.
I think it takes guts to ad- mit that you’ re scared of do- ing something, but it can pay off, especially in medical sit- uations. Anyway, I confided in the Queen’s nurses who volunteered at the Blaisdell clinic, and they were so reas- suring and helped me feel less nervous about it. I am very thankful to two in particular

I’ m not here to tell oth- ers what they should or shouldn’t do, but I like the idea of being there to encour- age and support others who may be unsure or hesitant like I was. Sometimes, being able to talk to someone about it can help, especially if that person already went through it. People have reassured me it was the right decision and the more I think about it, the more I agree that I contribut- ed in some way.
