Ginny Tiu joins University of Hawai‘i Foundation’s board of trustees. She is a musician and philanthropist. A board member for Hawaiian Humane Society, Tiu was instrumental in its $20 million capital campaign and is co-chair of a second capital campaign for the nonprofit’s West O‘ahu campus. She was named Philanthropist of the Year by the Association of Fundraising Professionals in 2018.
Mary Hakoda is director of sales and marketing and principal broker at Castle & Cooke Hawai‘i. She worked for the company from 2005 to 2010, and was responsible for several of its developments. Prior to her return, Hakoda was director of sales operations and principal broker at The Howard Hughes Corp.; principal for Hakoda & Co.; vice president, realtor for Coldwell Pacific Properties LLC; and more.
Paul Lucey is the recipient of NASA’s 2021 Eugene Shoemaker Distinguished Scientist Medal. This is a lifetime achievement award for the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa professor’s contributions to understanding the moon, Mars and other rocky planets. Lucey’s research in planetary science and remote sensing has been instrumental in developing imaging spectrometers for NASA.

Dr. Jared Yurow is National Treatment Network president on National Association of State Alcohol and Drug Abuse Directors’ board of directors. He is the first from Hawai‘i to be elected. He earned his Psy.D. from United States International University and completed his M.Ed. at Columbia University. Yurow is a licensed psychologist who has worked for the Hawai‘i Department of Health for more than 27 years.
Jason Fukumoto is director of engineering at The Ritz-Carlton Residences, Waikīkī Beach. In this position, Fukumoto is responsible for leading and overseeing operational maintenance of the largest Ritz-Carlton Residences in the brand’s global portfolio. Most recently, Fukumoto served as multi-site executive director of engineering for Marriott’s Waiohai Beach Club and Marriott’s Kaua‘i Beach Club.
Kianiwai Jones is the clean mobility director at Blue Planet Foundation. She will educate local leaders and policymakers about clean transportation as a climate solution, and direct projects intended to break down barriers to clean and affordable mobility across the state. She is a graduate of University of California Los Angeles Anderson School of Management and Loyola Marymount University.
