Sand Island Park with a friend andmyChihuahua,Lia.Ihadtogoto work and I left my dog under the care of my friend. When I returned, my dog was gone. My friend had left her alone in the tent, and Lia chewed a hole in the tent and escaped. I have owned Lia since she was a puppy, and she is now 15 years old and almost blind. I was devastated to lose Lia. I searched everywhere for her and posted her information on Facebook.
family is back together! Savanah says, “I have dogs of my own and any ani- mals that I ever found I would take to theHumaneSociety, butthatnightthey were closed so I brought her home with me. Recently, I was in a volleyball tour- nament and one of my teammates had seen the missing dog on The Pet Hui, so I watched the episode and ended up call- ing (Charles) and meeting up with him. I’m glad he got his dog back and he told me he didn’t stop looking. I’m so happy that I was able to find the owner.” It is because of compassionate people like Savanah that make our pet community so proud.

My story was brought to the attention of The Pet Hui TV show by Paw Posse ‘Ohana (Makamae), and they reached out to me to present my story. A lady saw my story and she knew where my dog was. She contacted her friend, the lady that found my dog, and provided my phone number to her. That lady is Savanah Kahakai, and

Sports Medicine deals with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of injuries that oc- cur to athletes. Dr. Paul Norio Morton is an Orthopedic Surgeon who provides both surgical and non-operative treatments for his patients, including amateur and profes- sional athletes. As an athlete, himself - his passions include Brazilian Jiu-jitsu, biking,
swimming, water sports, and hiking, he embraces helping patients on their healthcare journey to determine the best treatment to get them back to an active and healthy lifestyle.
Dr. Morton provides treatment for common injuries, such
as heat exhaustion, muscle cramps, bruises (muscle contu- sions), shin splints, sprains, strains, stress fractures, and torn ligaments and tendons,
as well as specialized sports care, like:
• Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction
• Returning to Activity after ACL Reconstruction
• Achilles Tendon Ruptures and Achilles Tendonopathy • Medial Patellofemoral Ligament Reconstruction
• Meniscus Tears and Meniscus Repair
• Broken Collarbones
• Joint Preservation Surgeries • Patellar Tendon Ruptures
• Quad Tendon Ruptures • Exercising with Arthritis • Fractures
Dr. Morton is also an expert in joint preservation. Menis- cus tears, ACL tears and car- tilage injuries are common in athletes. He takes pride in
providing your joints with excellent care and helping you return to your sport to the best of your ability.
Dr. Morton uses minimally- invasive arthroscopic techniques through small incisions. These smaller incisions minimize injury to the soft tissue. His goal is the preservation of your joints and prevention of arthritis down the road.
4 TIPS TO KEEP YOU SAFE WHILE ACTIVE
Dr. Morton advises care be- fore, during and after physi- cal activity. This approach helps patients maintain an athletic lifestyle for a long time. Some helpful tips include:
• Stay hydrated – Dehydration can lead to heat cramps, fatigue and injury.
• Take a break – Resting allows time for recovery and enough energy to reach your goals.
• Warm-up – Warming up be- fore exercise gives your muscles and tendons the opportunity to get going and prevents tears. • Increase activity gradu-
ally – Rushing into an activity too soon is a recipe for injury. Slowly develop your strength and endurance.
