Samra Broderick
Samra Broderick is vice president of health services at AlohaCare. In this new role, she will be responsible for strategic and operational oversight of service and care coordination and utilization management, while directing the health services department teams to optimize access and delivery to plan members. Previously, Broderick was senior vice president for post acute care management at UnitedHealth Group.
James Lawhn has been promoted to senior vice president and chief fiduciary officer in First Hawaiian Bank’s personal trust division. He oversees the overall risk management of the Wealth Management Group’s fiduciary activities. He chairs the bank’s trust administration and risk management committees, and is a member of the trust investment policy committee. He joined the division in 2000 as a vice president and trust officer.
Pamela Smith has been named associate dean of Chaminade University’s School of Nursing and Health Professions. She will lead its community and public health program, and the planned Doctorate of Nursing Practice program. Most recently, Smith served as chief nursing administrator, chair of nursing department at Hawai‘i Pacific University. She brings more than 20 years of experience to the position.
Jeffrey Yedlin
Jeffrey Yedlin has been appointed hotel manager at Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikīkī Beach Resort. He will oversee all operations of the resort, spanning 22 acres and 2,860 guest rooms. Previously, Yedlin worked for MGM Resorts International in Las Vegas. Yedlin, who holds a Ph.D. in hotel administration, also teaches at University of Hawai‘i, Kapi‘olani Community College and University of Nevada Las Vegas.
Melanie Islam has been named partner at Mason Architects Inc. In her new role, Islam is responsible for all phases of project design and planning, including coordination with design team consultants. Islam brings a decade of experience to this position. Her main focus is on the firm’s sustainability design efforts. First joining the company in 2012, Islam holds a Doctorate of Architecture from University of Hawai‘i.
AJ Rose is a senior project accountant of Poukihi with Pono Pacific. In this new position, Rose’s duties include accounting support for nonprofits and disadvantaged businesses that are part of the Pouhiki portfolio of clients. Previously, he was director of Mexico at Lowers Forensics International, where he served as a senior manager, running an international office in Mexico City.
