The Las Vegas Hawai- ian Civic Club hosted its inaugural Swing for the Future Prince Jonah Kūhiō Kalaniana‘ole Scholarship Golf Tournament at Desert Pines Golf Club to raise funds for its scholarship program. The support from local Ninth Islanders, as well as residents from California and Arizona, truly showed what the aloha spirit is all about. With 34 hole sponsors, 110 golfers and an outpouring of donations from community organizations, the event was definitely a success! A total of four scholarships will be awarded annually.
In addition to fundraising, the event also brought the community together to support small businesses impacted by the pandemic. The mini pop- up mākeke provided a free space for vendors to promote their businesses and sell their merchandise. The civic club also had a booth to welcome current members and provide

Caesars Entertainment is also giving back to the commu- nity by donating $3.1 million to support vulnerable popula- tions across the Ninth Island. The funds collected through parking fees at Caesars proper- ties will support organizations such as St. Jude’s, Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada and Special Olympics Nevada. This donation will have a sig- nificant impact on the Vegas community.
