Moanalua Gardens Foundation’s virtual 45th anniversary Prince Lot Hula Festival will premiere from 7 to 9 p.m. Nov. 3 on KHON2. Twelve hālau hula from all over the state, including Pearl City’s Hālau Lilia Makanoe, led by kumu hula Shelsea Ai, will gather at historic Queen Emma Summer Palace to perform in the state’s largest non- competitive hula festival. A
part of the “Light the World Giving Machines” initiative organized by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Pearlridge Center will be home to four red machines that make it easy to help those less fortunate. Two of these devices will be conveniently located in Pearlridge Mauka, where the holiday train will be running, and another two will be at Pearl- ridge Makai at the foot of the escalators with the Santa display. Proceeds raised through the machines will be distributed to four local ben- eficiaries: Family Promise of Hawai‘i, Pacific Gateway Center, Adult Friends for Youth and U.S.VETS. It will also benefit two global char- ities: American Red Cross and iDE Global.
The machines first launched in 2019 at Poly- nesian Cultural Center, took a hiatus during the pandemic and ramped up again last year. This year, it’s slated to open on Nov. 19 and will run through Jan. 2. The launch ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. Nov. 19 and will be open to
